Found Within

7 The law of the Lord is perfect,[a]
    reviving the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is sure,
    making wise the simple;
the precepts of the Lord are right,
    rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure,
    enlightening the eyes; (Psalm 19:7-8 ESV)

Scripture like this opens up and provides us a view into just how God desires to work in our lives. We may, in our daily reading, gloss over the deep promises contained within and miss out on something profound. The four promises in today’s reading are just such…profound, and we should not miss them.

The law of the Lord has the ability to revive the soul. This is important as we come to the end of the week, possibly feeling tired and used up. We can soak ourselves in scripture and pray so that we are revived. Finding within a renewal that comes from above.

I have always held that when asked of God and bathed in scripture and prayer, He honors us and makes wise the simple. He provides the knowledge we need when we need it. All the wisdom of the universe is contained within if we are open to the Spirit’s leading and do not try to wholly rely upon our own wisdom.

This all leads to a rejoicing heart and enlightened eyes. We find that when we have our joy in Christ, He provides enlightenment and a liveliness of life that cannot be found anywhere else. We move from wearisome and burdened to joyful and lighthearted.

Thus, let us not gloss over the profound promises to be found within.
