³³ But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (Matthew 6:33 ESV)

What truly happens when we seek God’s kingdom and His righteousness first? Do we get the desires of our heart?

I would say a resounding, Yes!

This happens because if we are seeking His kingdom and His righteousness first then our mind is naturally attuned to His desires. Thus, His desires become our desires. Our potentially selfish needs are minimized over God’s greater plan. Thus, what is “added to us” is what both God and we desire.

In truth, putting God first in our lives also simplifies our lives greatly. We realize our past striving has provided little in the way of really making us happy. What we find too, is that our new desires that are aligned with Gods often align with what we truly want out of life. As our desires and His align we find that our striving has so much more merit than what we did before.

When we put God first, He helps us align in a way where what we want falls perfectly in line with what He has planned.
