⁶ yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord,Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live. ( 1 Corinthians 8:6 ESV)

In a number of places in scripture it tells us that all things are in the Lord and all things came through the Lord. This concept of “in and through” has stuck with me through the years.

When we think about all things being “In” God we need to consider that everything has some aspect of God. Everything is in God and as such we need to treat everything with reverence. When we do so we bring a reverence to life and to everything in it. We look at people, places and things differently because we begin to recognize God in all things.

In a similar, but slightly different way, we need to recognize that all things come “through” God. Nothing escapes the God filter in our lives. Everything that happens to us, every interaction, all of what life throws at us came through God.

His hand is in everything and nothing escapes Him. We may choose to separate ourselves from God, but He does not separate Himself from us.
