Worthy Efforts

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,[a]10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, (Colossians 1:9-10 ESV)

There is much that goes into living a worthy life. There have been many times within my own where I questioned whether I was really doing so. Each of these times made me take a good hard look at how I was living and adjust accordingly.

Life is hard. This is a simple fact. It is so easy to get bogged down in just the living of it that we do not focus much on exactly how life is actually turning out. We are on autopilot and in fact life is a thing that is happening to us rather than us actually guiding the boat in any way. This is when we should ask good friends for prayer. It is when good and loving friends pray for us that we begin to feel the air cover this brings and things begin to move.

I pray for a lot of people daily. I am not good at it, but I know the Spirit intervenes for me with groaning from deep within that reaches God’s ear. I wish for and worry about others and desire good outcomes for them. Some times this happens and some times it does not. But I try to stay true to my prayers for others, continually asking God to fill them.

In all things we should be seeking to grow in our prayer life so that we ma afford much to ourselves and others in life. Even when we do not necessarily feel worthy.
