71 It was good for me to be afflicted
so that I might learn your decrees. (Psalm 119:71 ESV)
Life is a lesson, you learn it when your through…
Not sure where that quote may have originated, but Limp Bizkit immortalized it, and it has stuck with me.
All of life is a continual lesson and God wills it to be one where we learn His statutes and decrees so that we might live by them. Furthermore, our afflictions and interactions are often a learning tool to help us say or get on the right path.
In this way we should take every experience in life as a lesson. No matter the impact upon us or our lives we have the opportunity to learn from everything and everyone. I, personally, do not believe anyone comes into our lives randomly. I see each person as a potential for myself or for them. We cannot know the lasting impact we might have upon another’s life if we but take the time to invest in others.
Does this always pay back? No. I can’t say it does at least not in visible ways initially. I think it sometimes takes years to realize the actual impact of others upon our lives. This is especially true if we are students of the world. When we study everyone and everything there is just so much to learn. When we add into that the guiding of the Spirit there also may be so much unseen impact to our lives.
Never pass up the opportunity to learn from life events and others we meet.
