15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! (Romans 5:15 ESV)
Through Adam’s sinful act all mankind was condemned. But through Jesus sacrifice we who believe were all forgiven. One sin condemned but one act of salvation forgave.
Let’s let that sink in a bit. All sin was taken away by Christ sacrifice for all believers. It is an incomparable gift that we have been given.
But what are we doing with our gift? Are we simply accepting it and nothing more or is the magnitude of the act of forgiveness in our lives driving us to do more? Is it not only changing our lives but pushing us to seek to speak of this gift to others? You can say, “my faith is manifest in my life”, but I say, not if you do not speak it to others.
You see, we have little real understanding of others perceptions of us or why we live our lives like we do. We think they look at how we live an upstanding life as enough, but maybe it is not. What happens when others who have watched our lives reach judgement and say, “no one ever told me.”
I think too often we believe that the message is out there and that just living a good life and acting “Christian” around others is enough. We must look for doorways, opportunities to share our faith in a way that speaks our faith to others who may be desperately in need of this gift.
