The Value of Exercise

But have nothing to do with pointless and silly myths. Rather, train yourself in godliness. For the training of the body has limited benefit, but godliness is beneficial in every way, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. This saying is trustworthy and deserves full acceptance. (1 Timothy 6:7-9 CSB)

Do you exercise in some way?

Do you spend time trying to either maintain the shape you are in, mold your body into something better, or simply want to keep active so that you feel better?

All of these reasons have merit and no one would argue that some form of regular exercise is not a good practice.

But better yet to spend time daily training your mind and spirit and feeding upon the Word of God.

Scripture has many great benefits. Not the least of which is to make one wiser and more discerning. But additionally, it can be a very calming activity. I have found over the years, that if I will spend time reading scripture and praying goes a long way to calm a stressed mind. Knowing that I have a ready source of peace just waiting for me any moment of the day is such a wonderful thing.

Furthermore, scripture is something in which we can ground ourselves in a world that seeks to drown us in “pointless and silly” drivel that comes at us from our electronic devices.

Scripture has many good uses that, like when we train our bodies, exercises our spirit and our mind.
