The Counselor

16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor[a] to be with you forever. 17 He is the Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive him because it doesn’t see him or know him. But you do know him, because he remains with you and will be[b] in you. (John 14:16-17 CSB)

Yesterday we spoke of our need to be The Whetstone others sharpen themselves against. This is an important role we should be playing with our brothers (and sisters for you ladies).

Then there is The Word we are to use as the surface for our own blades to be sharpened against. It provides us the knowledge and wisdom God desired so that we may have a guidebook for this life, and to allow us to know Him better.

Then there is The Counselor who God sent when Christ was crucified to be an ever-present helper. The Holy Spirit is given to each of us to be our guide in this life. He is there to also provide a special conduit to God the Father when we simply do not know what to pray or how to convey our deepest pains, needs and desires.

But it is ”The Counselor” moniker I like most. Striving to cultivate a running dialogue with the Spirit within should be one of our most constant daily efforts. To walk through each day knowing that He shares every good and every bad thing we think or do. To keep this all in perspective and to never feel alone.
