Wavering Faith

40 Then he said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” (Mark 4:40 CSB)

Why does it seem that the smallest thing can shake our faith? How is it that after watching what God has done and is doing in our lives that we are people of so little faith?

I know I am guilty of this. But also, I know that often my fear and lack of faith is based upon my actions and not God’s.

No, when we look closely at God’s hand in our lives, how can we not have strong faith. But then again, when we read of the disciples wavering faith when they were personal witnesses to Christ, this just shows what weak creatures we are.

God has displayed over and over again His faithfulness in my life. As the years have passed I have gotten better, stronger in my faith, but I still falter.

What I have found is that I must renew my faith daily, stay in the Word and pray to keep myself from faltering. It is through this practice that I become less and Christ becomes more within my life.

My prayer for this next year is that I can continue to lose more of myself and be more like Christ.
