So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (Colossians 3:1-2 CSB)
There is much to occupy our minds here on earth.
Even this morning, a Saturday morning, I woke up early because I could not sleep thinking about work things. We do this. Our mind spins on work, family or personal concerns and we should be cognizant of the responsibilities we have in life.
But do these things occupy our minds more than God? Do we set them as idols above our desire to live lives worthy of our salvation and our faith? Do we occupy our minds with things below more than things above.
When we focus only upon the temporal we lose sight of the spiritual.
We need to flip this script and focus upon meeting God’s first in every aspect of our lives. By putting things above first in our thoughts, then we move toward a path of allowing God to work through things below. Only then can everything in our lives become an out flowing of the Spirit and we no longer put the cart before the horse.
