29 Jesus said, “Because you have seen me, you have believed.[a] Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.” (John 20:29 CSB)
Thomas needed to not only see Christ but to touch this crucification scars so that he could fully assure himself that this truly was the risen Christ.
That’s bold!
He was not taking it at face value.
It may, at times, be difficult to take our faith at face value. We look for a deeper truth to become manifest in our lives. We need proof.
But God rewards unseen faith. When our expectations are out and awaiting an answer, God rewards our our waiting with a deeper faith that puts hope beyond our expectations.
When we live life at only face value then we shortchange God by possibly limiting His actions through a lack of faith. We may turn around in within moments of reaching God’s reward due to our lack of faith. God watches as we approach within a hands width and then we withdraw because our expectations were not yet met.
In fact by walking out each day in faith, doing our work, but allowing God to become manifest in our lives we live beyond face value. We open the door for greater things unseen to us.
