The Visible and the Invisible

16 For everything was created by him,
in heaven and on earth,
the visible and the invisible,
whether thrones or dominions
or rulers or authorities—
all things have been created through him and for him. (Colossians 1:16 CSB)

Think of all the things, visible and invisible. This scripture reaches broadly from the size of an atom to the immensity of the wind and beyond. All things visible and invisible.

Furthermore, it reaches into both the physical and spiritual realms to address the thrones, dominions, rulers and authorities. The powers and principalities. Of which we only see a small portion.

However, here too is where many stumble. It can be difficult to grasp the unseen or invisible realm of the spirit world. And if we had visibility into this world, I expect, we would be greatly overwhelmed by just how busy it is around us. This is a realm that often either goes unaccounted for or simply ignored. We are creatures of substance and as such expect that which acts upon us to be of substance as well.

Regardless of how you might look upon these realms there is one thing that we must hold in mind. All of these things have been created through Him (God/Christ) and for Him. Nothing exist in either realm without God’s desire and knowledge. This too can be hard to fathom as we wonder at a God who would allow something like the enemy to exist.

Yet this too, like everything else, has its purpose. Thus, we can then begin to see that the good and the bad in our lives have purpose.
