Comfort Zone or End Zone

13 For if we are out of our mind, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. (2 Corinthians 5:13 CSB)

Have you ever done anything for your faith (for God) that others thought you were out of your mind?

Probably not, most will never go to this extent in their faith walk. No, we like to keep our faith walk on the sidewalk, in the sunshine, on the better part of town.

I heard it said the other day that the new term for “fear” is “Comfort Zone”. And from what I can see, this is spot on.

We do not want to get out of our comfort zone. As such we may never reach the end zone. OH, we will in the sense that we will go to heaven if we believe in Christ. But in our faith walk we will stay on about the 50 yard line.

Now, I use football analogies very uncomfortably. Sports is not my parlance. But here it is apt. The comfort zone is typically far from the end zone. We may start with crazy thoughts of doing big things for Christ, but we end up pulling up a big soft recliner in the comfort zone. The work of getting banged up trying to get past the enemy and into the end zone is long forgotten. We simply want to strive to live a “good life”.

We need to get some fear back in our lives by doing crazy things for God. We need to open ourselves to God sized plans. Otherwise we face a life, possibly well lived, but with little to show for how we lived our lives for God.
