7 Do not remember the sins of my youth
or my acts of rebellion;
in keeping with your faithful love, remember me
because of your goodness, Lord. (Psalms 25:7 CSB)
Are you growing?
Are you seeing change from the way you were to the way God wants you to be?
I have written recently that I think we often just sit with what is comfortable. This is especially true as we age. Habits become ingrained and change becomes ever more difficult.
God’s desire is for us to ever be on a path of growth in the spirit. Through reading of His Word and application of the truth we find there, we are to grow and our lives should look different year over year. But do they?
If you look back a year ago, how has your spiritual life grown? Can you chart your growth through discipleship and dedication to God or have you been simply a flat line of faith?
A flat line is typically not a good thing. Yes, it is better than steady decline, but a flat line typically denotes death. We do not want our spiritual life to flat line.
Really take a moment and consider this. Maybe coming off of a difficult past year you have just been hoping to hold on to your baseline of living. I am sure many have.
But if we are not continually growing our spiritual life how can we imagine that God is going to use us to our potential. We are limiting that potential by not becoming what God ultimately wants of us. We are walking the easy path of status quo and not climbing to the new heights of the spiritual life God has planned for us reaching the peaks of an abundant faith life.
Are you flatlining?
