Wellspring

14 But whoever drinks from the water that I will give him will never get thirsty again. In fact, the water I will give him will become a well[a] of water springing up in him for eternal life.” (John 4:14 CSB)

Do you feel like a well springing up or like a well deep and dry?

We, of course, should be the former but I think too often we feel like the latter.

We have a choice between the two, but I believe that the world spends a lot of its time trying to dry up our well.

Life, and the people in it, can be either something we draw from the well spring of or something that draws from our wellspring. Balancing the two are so very important or we quickly become dried up wells.

This is why we need time to renew our well, to fill it back up. God is the wellspring and from it ours are filled. If we are not taking time aside to fill it daily and time away in solitude to allow the spring to run clear, then we will struggle to keep the water fresh. We become tired and jaded and soon have nothing to give.

It is important that we consider and renew the wellspring of our lives.
