Who are we Fooling?

15 For I do not understand what I am doing, because I do not practice what I want to do, but I do what I hate (Romans 7:15 CSB)

Have you ever found yourself doing something that you know is wrong but you proceed to do it anyhow? I think we all find ourselves in that position more than we realize. As an example, there are a lot of things I should be eating, but I do not eat them, I go for that which may taste better but has a negative effect on my body. I know I should work out too, but instead I sleep in because it feels better than stressing my body with exercise.

These are small things that, over time, both add up to me being less healthy. You would think, knowing that I know the impact of the wrong food and lack of exercise on my body, I would make better choices. But comfort or our desires often win out over that which we know in wisdom we should be doing.

Our sinful ways often make the same promises of comfort or excitement or contentment. Yet, once done we find that what we are left with is remorse and regret. Yet we do them over and over again.

Thus, if we know what we should do but we continue to do what we should not do, who is being fooled?
