22 Because of the Lord’s faithful love
we do not perish,[a]
for his mercies never end.
23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness! (Lamentations 3:22-23 CSB)
I am so thankful for this scripture, because I need God’s mercy renewed to me daily.
I have often written that while we are saved through faith once and for all, I often feel the need for 24 hour grace. The kind of grace that is renewed every day. I also often wonder if the angels assigned to me need to work in shifts due to exhaustion.
Luckily there is also the first part of this scripture, because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish and his mercies never end. This is the root of our faith.
So even when we test the Lord by going our own way, He is waiting patiently for us to come to our senses and find our way back. Even though finding our way back is simply turning around and finding that He has been there beside us all along.
Great is your faithfulness, Lord, that you never truly leave us nor forsake us.
