22 To this very day, I have had help from God, and I stand and testify to both small and great, saying nothing other than what the prophets and Moses said would take place— 23 that the Messiah would suffer, and that, as the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light to our people and to the Gentiles.” (Acts 26:22-23 CSB)
We receive more help than we might first imagine. Yes, from God to be sure, but too from many others in ways we may not easily recognize.
Paul had received much help from God but he too had been supported by the many churches that were springing up at this time. Churches that he himself had planted and was sending these letters to so that they too might grow.
The help he gave was these letters that we now read as scripture. Thus, to this day Paul’s words, inspired by God, are a help to the body of Christ (the church) which he was instrumental in planting.
As much as we think we might, none of us really do this life alone. And truly, no matter how independent we are, none of us should want to. We were made to be relational creatures, helping one another, being there in times of need, reaching out when we have difficulty.
Loneliness is a silent killer and many need our helping hand. If we simply turn aside and do not reach out we lose out ourselves on a divine appointment. And as I have written, I believe that if God allowed us to see the many divine appointments we have passed by we would be crushed by the magnitude of what we could have done but did not.
