Reverse Polarity

16 Better a little with the fear of the Lord
than great treasure with turmoil.

17 Better a meal of vegetables where there is love
than a fattened ox with hatred. (Proverbs 15:16-17 CSB)

We always want more. More, more, more. And we want more, faster. Faster, faster, faster.

But there is much to be said for having a little and taking our time.

Because we live in a constant state of the former, the world wants the same from us. Thus, our lives end up being so hectic. What we want gets turned around and the expectations we put upon others are visited upon us.

Practicing slowing down and expecting less help us gain a different perspective upon life. It helps us to practice kindness with both others and ourselves. Our expectations begin to change and the world has to take a moment to catch up with us. This does not seem like it would be the case but it is. Much like whispering when everyone is shouting.

By wanting and needing less, there is room made for what is truly important. Not just stuff, but that which truly provides value and is not just the next best thing. We stop jumping from one thing to the next and settle upon value.

In slowing down and wanting less we reverse the polarity. In doing so we take time for others, for our selves, for God. We make space for the important.
