7 The end of all things is near; therefore, be alert and sober-minded for prayer. 8 Above all, maintain constant love for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins.[a] 9 Be hospitable to one another without complaining. (1 Peter 4:7-9 CSB)
I have written a lot about the need for constant love for one another and how it covers many sins. Scripture backs this in many places and we can see the overwhelmingly positive outcome of showing love over hate.
However, I do not write frequently about the coming end of all things.
While we live in a world that has spent countless hours on movie and book content on the end of the world, none of us are truly prepared. We think it will be something that we try to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. But that will not be the case.
I have no idea when it will happen, no one does, no one can, no matter what they point to. Scripture tells us no one knows the day, nor the time when Christ will return. But what I do know is that it will happen. And when it does there will be no more time for “fixing” our state. We will either be caught up with Him, or we won’t. Depending on the state of our heart and our belief.
So while there is time, we need to be alert and sober minded for one reason – to pray. Fervent prayer for ourselves and those around us so that all may enter the Kingdom.
