16 For; who has known the Lord’s mind,
that he may instruct him?[a]
But we have the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16 CSB)
Too often we want to “help” God along toward an end of our own. Our selfish nature comes forth and we believe we know what is best.
But who can know God’s mind? Who can instruct him?
No one!
We can have the mind of Christ, meaning we can see to be more like Him and know what is taught in scriptures about Him. But who are we to think we can instruct God?
We want what we think is best, but God knows what is best. Even when his answer is no.
God is not some genie who grants wishes. Just read the New Testiment and listen to the many qualifiers Christ puts upon Christian living. Not upon salvation, that is given freely. But upon living a life dedicated to Christ.
Far too often we want to be seen as Christ focused when inside we are anything but. It is hard to shine our light when the fire within is but weak embers.
We must seek to know the mind of Christ and accept that God knows best. We must stoke the fire within and allow it to burn away everything else.
