Suffering for Truth

27 “But I say to you who listen: Love your enemies, do what is good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. (Luke 6:27-28 CSB)

These can be some of the more difficult parts of scripture to adhere to.

But, let’s think for a moment at the potential outcome.

When we return vindictive behavior with kindness what can the other do? Yes, they can continue to berate us, but very quickly their behavior turns upon itself. The tables may begin to turn.

However, what if they don’t. At times the squeaky wheel gets the grease (the attention). We may find that those who talk against us begin to be believed. How then do we respond?

Truth outs.

If we continue to kindly divert the narrative to the truth of the matter, most of the time, it will be seen for what it is.

But in today’s world with the enemy so active, we may not always come out on top of these situations. Our truth speaks volumes to those who will listen, but may not gain any support. In these cases we must remember that the world hated Jesus first. Even in light of his life giving truth the crowds turned against him.

Some times we will suffer for our scriptural truth.
