42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me—nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” (Luke 22:42 CSB)
None of us desire to deal with trial or tribulation. Hard times are called hard times for a reason. Even Christ when faced with the cross asked the Father to take the cup from him. But he followed immediately with surrendering to the Father’s will.
So when we are facing difficult situations God knows that it is not easy to subject ourselves to his will. But he provides sufficient grace for us to be able to stand, with the Spirit’s help, under the pressure.
Thus, we can safely say, “nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
