18 Servants, submit to your masters with all reverence not only to the good and gentle ones but also to the cruel. 19 For it brings favor if, because of a consciousness of God, someone endures grief from suffering unjustly. (1 Peter 2:18-19 CSB)
We all want to be treated justly. Especially for those we work for. But this is not always the case. In fact, in talking to many others it seems like it is no longer the norm as it once was.
Submitting to such treatment just feels wrong. We want, and at times should, stand up for ourselves. But there is a way God expects us to both endure, or submit, to unjust behavior and to respond to it when we feel we must. This is not with harsh words, grumbling or negativity. No, we are held to a higher standard. We are expected to endure and respond in a way that others see Christ in us in how we respond.
Often kindness in the face of unjust treatment heaps coals upon those who seek to harm us.
