In Every Situation

4 One thing have I asked of the Lord,
    that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord
and to inquire[a] in his temple. (Psalm 27:4 ESV)

We have a dwelling place in this world, but it does not have to be of this world. Even within the physical world we can remain in a constant state of dwelling with the Lord. This may not seem very practical, but it really is the most practical thing for maintaining our faith.

This is practicing the presence of God in all we do. No matter whether that is when we are with our families or in our work place, we can practice the presence of God. We can put everything before him, good and bad alike. Seeking His direction in all we do.

Too often we hold so much of what we do out as a thing apart from God. Doing so only increases the enemy’s hold on parts of our lives we see as separate. It allows the world to creep in and we are more easily manipulated.

We are nothing without God. When we function without Him we are fooling ourselves that we have the situation in hand. We have so little control over what happens moment to moment. Wouldn’t it be better to just bring God into every situation?
