Eyes of God and Man

20 We take this course so that no one should blame us about this generous gift that is being administered by us, 21 for we aim at what is honorable not only in the Lord’s sight but also in the sight of man. (2 Corinthians 8:20-21 ESV)

While we live for God, we need to also remember to do what is honorable in the eyes of man as well. For if we profess faith in God, you can bet man is watching.

Our lives, as we live out our faith, must take into account how we are viewed by others. Part of showing God’s love is doing what we can to live a life that is pleasing to Him and those around us. If we are continually in conflict with others, how can we show God’s love? No, our lives need to be an example of how to live out a life of faith. More that simply doing unto others, but doing as God would have us do.

Make no mistake, others are watching us to see if we are going to live the life we profess. If our daily walk does not represent the God we have faith in how can we lead others to His saving grace? The most common argument from those outside the faith is regarding the hypocrisy of the church. They do not see the church as filled with the same sinner as it is trying to reach. And it is because the church is often a mirror of the world that it is seen this way. We must be better than that. We must strive to live a life that exemplifies Christ.
