3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound[a] teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. (2 Timothy 4:3-4 ESV)
Do you have itchy ears? Not physically, that would be gross. But metaphorically.
I think there may be no better scripture for our time, outside of scripture on salvation, than this one. There are many itchy ears out there today. Everyone wanting to accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions. People are turning away from the truth more and more and wandering off into myths.
I work very hard to provide sound doctrine through scripture in what I write here. I do not dabble in the political. I do not find sensational news and try to put a spin on it. I merely stick to what is in scripture and try to give insight as best I can, with a lot of leading from the Spirit. Meaning, I do my best to stick to truth.
Hazy truth, itchy ears and wandering eyes are what gets us into trouble. We start heading down a path that has no clear end. It simply leads us into a forest of dark meandering paths and soon enough we are do desperately lost that it requires rescue from above. This can only come from above because we are so deeply mired in the muck and brambles of this world.
Turn your eyes and ears to God. See where He is leading and stop listening to the world. He will bring you back to the truth.
