Sought

1 I was ready to be sought by those who did not ask for me;
    I was ready to be found by those who did not seek me.
I said, “Here I am, here I am,”
    to a nation that was not called by[a] my name. (Isaiah 65:1 ESV)

When we find God, or He finds us, it may not be because we are asking or seeking him. Yet, he continues to call to us “Here I am.”

The world and the enemy conspire to make our lives a hectic and chaotic place where we can feel like we are running in circles. One day is up, the next down or we may experience periods of success and periods of distress. This is the way of life while we are on earth. This can lead us to search for any little pleasure to take us away from our pain. But we are called for more.

Luckily, God is diligent in His pursuit of us. It is we who are may not be listening for or even open to His call. And even when we are, we may choose to turn aside. This happens even after we come to Christ. Our continued sinful nature may drag us away into things that are not God’s will. We must continue to listen and look for God in everything, otherwise we are easily lead astray.
