Strengthen your Hands

For they all wanted to frighten us, thinking, “Their hands will drop from the work, and it will not be done.” But now, O God,[a]strengthen my hands. (Nehemiah 6:9 ESV)

You may find that the deeper you go into God’s will for your life the more opposition you encounter. Even those who you once saw as learned advisors in life may turn against what God has you doing and counsel you away from His plan. This can be so very difficult, especially when we have learned to trust friends, family and advisors. It can make you feel very alone, fearful and weak.

But make no mistake, God’s plan is better than their advice. Now, do we need to well vet what we believe we are being lead to do? Of course! We need to read and pray over what we believe God is calling us to do. We need to find those who will look at things more from a heavenly basis and less from a worldly basis. Many people’s well meant advice only looks at how what we are lead to do will have an impact from a worldly state. And, no, God’s plans may not always make worldly sense.

This is why we must dig deeply into our prayer life asking God to send a clear message on His plan for our lives. It may only be in hindsight that we recognize God’s hand at work through our lives. But if we pray and are open to His leading, He will strengthen our hands to the work He has for us.
