How Time Works

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you,[a] not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. (2 Peter 3:9 ESV)

We are very lucky that God works in His time frame and not our own. Otherwise there would be no time for us to repent and change our ways. There would be no time for us to learn and grow in the faith. No time for us to live a life seeking to do His will and reaching others in His name.

But maybe you are considering this in light of a request you made that it seems that God is taking too long to fulfill.

Yes, we have very different views on time, us and God. And we should not take this for granted. Everything comes in its season. And God watches the world and every life in every season. But for us times and seasons seem to change slowly, at least for a time. Then, as we get older, they seem to speed by before our eyes at a breakneck pace.

When we make it to this latter season in life, we can look back and see all of the incredible things God has done. Time becomes a different thing when looking at it in this way. We can often see where God has worked through different seasons in our lives and how time truly worked either for or against us.

Seeing time through God’s eyes helps us to learn to trust Gods patience and have some of our own.
