Our Tiny Lives

20 Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he answered them, “The kingdom of God is not coming in ways that can be observed, 21 nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.”[a] (Luke 17:20-21 ESV)

Yesterday, as we watched God’s handiwork in motion, it is hard to not be awed by the great and mighty things He does. But today, what do we have to show for it? Well, for one, we have the fact that today and every day God is in the midst of us and moves in mighty ways there as well.

We may feel that God cannot change our circumstances. But, it is most often us who stand in the way. It is most often us who keep God from working by clinging to our stubborn sinful ways.

God is moving not just mountains, but entire planets and we cannot come to understand that He too wishes to work in our tiny grain of a life as well. And here it is, we cannot fathom how a great God would want to be involved in our little lives as well. With whole societies, whole cities, whole states, whole countries, whole worlds to oversee, why would He want to oversee our messy lives.

Because He loves you, and He cares for you, and He wants the best for you. He so desires to be involved in your life. Can you maybe move aside and let Him?
