The Renewed Life

He will render to each one according to his works: (Romans 2:6 ESV)

We claw and scratch to succeed in our lives, often without a clear picture of just what success really means. Too often we equate this to money, position, status or security, all of which are fleeting. We grasp for the golden ring to only find that reaching our goals produces nothing more than a hollow feeling and a wanting for something more.

How much better to work toward eternal rewards? How much better to seek standing with Christ who will be the final judge of every word and action? Granted, nothing we do can gain us salvation and God does not play favorites. However, the Bible is very clear that we can reap the rewards of a life lived for Christ in heaven.

As we move from Good Friday to Easter Sunday we should be considering the renewal of our faith. Looking, much like at the first of the year, to make resolutions to a new life lived fully for Christ. However, not the meaningless resolutions that rarely make it a month, but life altering decisions around who we are in Christ and how He wants us to live and succeed in His eyes. In essence a renewed life focused fully upon the cross.
