51 Then Jesus answered him, “What do you want me to do for you?”
“Rabboni,”[teacher] the blind man said to him, “I want to see.” (Mark 10:51 CSB)
Sometimes we pray long drawn out prayers about the details of our situation, possibly hoping that through our discourse God will soften and give us our desire.
But God already knows everything about us. He knows our every waking breath.
Maybe it is better, like the blind man, to just say “I want to see.”
Furthermore, maybe this needs to actually be our prayer, so that we can simply better understand God’s plan in what we are dealing with. Quite often, I believe, God is using circumstance to get our attention.
He is asking, “What do you want me to do for you?”, but when we ask we do so with selfish intent.
It may be far better to ask only “I want to see” so that God opens our eyes to what He has been trying to get us to understand all along.
