Stupid

12 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,
but one who hates correction is stupid. (Proverbs 12:1 CSB)

Maybe it is the small town Texas boy in me, but I love how blunt the scripture can be at times.

None of us “like” to be corrected. Especially after we have established ourselves and feel we know better.

However, even after we gain some maturity and wisdom we are still capable of doing stupid things. Often knowingly.

Probably our greatest stupidity is believing that we have it all in hand and do not need help. That is both stupid and arrogant. Rarely in this life do we truly have everything in hand and in reality we do not realize just how tenuous our lives are. How the course of our lives can turn on a dime.

But when we accept correction from the Lord and turn our eyes, thoughts, words and actions to His better judgement, this is the path to true maturity and wisdom.

We can then truly be said to love discipline and love knowledge.
