¹² If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? ¹³ No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man^[a]who is in heaven. (John 3:12-13 NKJV)

I spend a lot of time here writing about scripture and the things I have learned regarding God and the faith. In that I write a lot about living faith out and our time here on earth. What more can I do, I only have my experiences in this earthly realm regarding spiritual things. And while I write the words, I firmly believe that it is not I that structure what appears here, but the Spirit within imparting what God is giving us to say.

But as our scripture today says, if you do not believe about earthly things, how can you believe about heavenly things. Understanding of scripture, I firmly believe, requires both belief and constant study. I do not leave my understanding of scripture to only a few text. No, I read many, many commentaries and books, listen to many pastors regarding these things. I seek to understand before committing anything to paper (digital or otherwise).

Thus, I implore you to study the scriptures, listen to what the Spirit is imparting to you in your specific situation regarding them. You may get something totally different from a scripture. Not that either you or I are wrong, but the Spirit provides insight and discernment based on our very specific situation and place in life.

Reflect on: What you get from scripture and the writings or teachings of others. Test it all against the Spirit for what God is imparting to you individually.
