Disobedience and the Comfortable Path

9 A man’s heart plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps. (Proverbs 16:9 NKJV)

Are you obeying God or are you substituting your interpretation of what He desires for He truly desires you to do?

We can often feel uncomfortable with the appointments God puts on our calendar. It may be that He is asking you to call on someone who you know needs support but who you may not necessarily enjoy being around. So you go see three other people who you deem just as in need and avoid the appointment God set. We may even circumvent an entire calling because the influence of others or the change in lifestyle creates reason enough for us to choose another path.

It is said, God does not always call the equipped, but He will surely equip the called. In fact if we are not stepping out of our comfort zone we may be almost assured that we are simply not doing what God desires of us. God will often put us in situations where we are uncomfortable so that His glory can shine fully through our actions for Him.

Reflect on: Are you heeding God’s call or are you choosing disobedience and the comfortable path?
