¹⁰ Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. (John 14:10 NKJV)

The Father who dwells in Me does the work. Meaning, the Spirit is where we need to derive our actions and it is He who should direct our path. We must be instruments of His desire and His plan, but to do so we must open ourselves and be willing to do God’s will.

There is too much of the human nature that seeks its own will. It truly must be suppressed so that we are acting not in vain pride, but from a place of humble acceptance of His path. This requires a daily dying to ourselves and an open acceptance of the Spirit. This is what Christ means by taking up the cross daily. We must walk with Him if we hope to live out His plan for our lives.

Our actions, be they in our relationships, our work or our past-times must reflect the Father in some way. If we are continually just doing our own thing, then it is difficult for the Fathers will to be manifest. There is just too much of us and not enough of Him.
