³⁶ Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.” (John 18:35 NKJV)

Sometimes life here feels like it just goes on and on. But the reality is that in the grand scheme of things the time we have here on earth is relatively short in the face of eternity. And we must remember, as Jesus said, our place is not of this earth.

I am not rushing to meet my end. I still have things I want to do here on earth. But I am trying to live my life in a way that is consistent with where my faith says I have a place specially made for me. Living with a heavenly focus helps us stay grounded in our faith life. It shifts our mindset to one of eternal things and a desire that is like Christ to not see anyone miss out on their eternal home.

With our minds firmly set upon heaven we can live with a different perspective and a daily hope. Even when hard times linger, we see beyond our current circumstances to the reality of where we are ultimately headed.
