1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the [a]course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), (Ephesians 2:1-5 NKJV)
I just began reading a new book on spiritual warfare. It begins with a statement, “We fight an ancient enemy and the ancient weapons are best”. I think we often, in our technologically driven world today, forget that our enemy has been around a very long time. His weapons have evolved, yes, but our tools are basically the same. We cannot fight this spiritual battle without the tools God gave us in the salvation of Christ blood and the guidance of the Spirit.
The story of salvation is a chain breaker. Christ blood can defeat any stronghold that may exist in our lives, but we must grasp upon the only weapon we are given, which is Christ. We must put on the armor of God and be willing to fight if we have any hope of winning.
The beauty of the story of Christ is that no matter what, He wins in the end. No stronghold built upon this earth will stand. We can rest faithfully in our knowledge of this and under His wings. He sets for us a table among our enemies so that we may banquet with Him now and forever.
Reflect on: The spiritual battles you may be facing and the ancient weapons God has given us to do battle with.
