Walk Worthy, Fully Pleasing

For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and long suffering with joy; 12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. (Colossians 1:9-12 NKJV)

I have written often about the many responsibilities we all have today. On how many of these pull us further and further from God’s appointed task for each of us. No, we cannot all be missionaries or ministers full time. In fact I believe that while both are vastly important, God will usher in real growth at a more personal level with the lay-ministers of the church. That through our personal interactions, God is growing His church in this evil age.

But this requires that we walk a worthy and fully pleasing life, fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Right here is the formula for us to dos as the next line commands, walking in strength and power with patience and long suffering. God is qualifying us daily to be partakers and He expects us to be about that business daily.

Reflect on: Just how you are living out today’s scripture. Are you doing it in power and knowledge or are you simply getting by day to day. Pray for something more.
