²⁸ And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. ²⁹ My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. (John 10:28-29 NKJV)

I was thinking about the various ways that the enemy and the world tries to lead us away from God last night, and there are many. But even though we might be lead astray, God never leaves us, He will never leave nor forsake us, and we cannot be snatched from His hand.

This is good to remember when we have times that drag us away from our faith life, and it can happen either subtly or by some major life event. I have watched people walk completely away from the faith due to something major that happens in their lives which they cannot reconcile with a loving God. Then I have watched faithful people in churches whose faith life fades slowly over time due to the hypocrisy they experience in the church. Many of these leave never to come back, but I do not believe that they are taken from God’s hand. I think it is much harder than that to pry us away from God’s great love. And this should be comforting.

Someone who is truly God’s will come back to Him in the end. It is much like children who grow up on the church then make a decision to not “do” church when they leave home. Eventually they come back.

Reflect on: If something has lead you away from God. Do you need to come back to the Faith life you once knew? Is that why you are reading these devotions?
