There are parts of our lives that we really wished God did not know about. Things we are ashamed of or just things that make us feel like we are less than God would want. But the best thing about God is that He knows all about us….and He still loves us anyhow.
1 O Lord, You have searched me and known me. (Psalm 139:1 NKJV)
The fact that God can see into the innermost workings of our mind and body is a good thing. We are given the Spirit as a guide, someone so close to us that nothing escapes His notice. But the fact that God, the Spirit and Christ are one means that all three share the same visibility into our life and that each of them love us unconditionally. This closeness is what gives us the ability to come to God with our prayers and petitions and speak to Him like the closest of friends.
We would not want a God that is distant and unknowing. In fact, He desires that we “know” Him just as much as He desires to “know” us. He just has much better insight into everything than we do and knows us in a way we may never fully know Him this side of heaven.
Just saying or writing the word “known” brings many feelings to the surface for me. I am once grateful and a bit fearful. Not fearful in an afraid sense, but in a healthy fear of the Father. More importantly, I am just so deeply moved that I have a Father that wants to know me this deeply, cares for me this completely and desires for me the best in this life.
Reflect on: How you feel about being known this deeply. But in doing so remember just how unconditionally God loves you.
