8 He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justly,
To love ^[a]mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8 NKJV)

In our short verse today, God gives us simple instruction. To do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God. This seems to be a very simple plan to follow to live a good and faith filled life. But the world directs us differently. It says, stand out, be heard and make our mark. In short, it instructs us to be just the opposite of what God calls for in a faithful life.

The sad part is that the world does not reward the things of God. No, it wants loud and viral so that everyone can see and be amazed at our great efforts and accomplishments. However, those who have walked a saints path and been venerated by the religious community were just the opposite. They were the quiet healers who walked hard paths and did hard things for God and God alone. They may have reached a place of renowned but it was not from pointing the finger at their works, no, it was always pointing their works toward God.

When we strive for justice and mercy, we will find a humble nature.

Reflect on: The desires of your heart. Are they to seek justice, mercy and a humble walk or simply to seek success?
