There are four aspects of today’s verse, and one of the best U2 songs ever made, that I want to bring specifically to your attention.

One; the Lord hears our cries. He always is inclined to us, listening to us and desiring the best for us. No, things may not always be perfect. But with a perfect God, there will always be a perfect outcome even if we cannot see nor understand it.

Two; wait patiently. This is where we often break down. We want things to change NOW, in our timing, not necessarily in the Lords. God’s timing is not our timing. We must learn to wait patiently upon the Lord and respect His timing.

Three; we need to look for the firm footing that the Lord is showing us a path toward. It may not be the firm footing we expect, but it will be firm footing none the less. The Lord always gives us the ability to stand firm and He is waiting for us to do so. Often this firm footing is on the bedrock of our faith, Jesus Christ!

Four; we need to sing a new song. We need to lift the Lord up and sing to him even if we do not feel like it. Praise Him for the last breath you took and the one you are taking now if that is all you have. But praise Him none the less!
