¹² Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preachChrist’s gospel, and a ^[a]door was opened to me by the Lord, ¹³ I had no rest in my spirit, because I did not find Titus my brother; but taking my leave of them, I departed for Macedonia. (2 Corinthians 2:12-13 NKJV)

Even when God opens a door for us we may experience unrest. God tells us in scripture that He will lead, guide and direct, but He may not assuage all of our worries and concerns. You see, He still desires that we lean on Him even when it is clear that He is working things out for us. An uneasy spirit may simply be God wanting us to keep our eyes upon Him.

Keeping our eyes firmly fixed upon the Lord also helps us to not allow pride to seep in. We can begin to think that it is we who opened the door and not God. We can begin to consider our good fortune being something that our skills and abilities wrought. God seeks for us to stay fixed upon Him so that we do not go astray in our own spirit and begin to consider the works of our hands over His.
