16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:14-19 NKJV)
There is so much that gets throw at us each and every day. There are seasons of life that feel desolate, where we feel abandoned and without hope. Times that seem to drag on due to the actual time they happen or due to our perception of time that drags when things are … just wrong. These seasons come to every life.
For this reason we must be rooted and grounded in our faith. We must be active in it, connecting with the Spirit, the Father and Christ every day. We cannot let ourselves lag in our diligence to be not just readers of the Word but doers as well. For when we experience live only on our own we can feel the desperation sink in that comes with difficulty.
The idea of being rooted and grounded in faith comes from working at it daily. We cannot hope to touch the Bible once a week when we go to church, if we go to church, and expect to have a faith that hold us up in bad times. We must also be real with ourselves and take an honest view of our lives and ask if we have been living the life the Word tells us to live or we are making compromises.
Reflect on: Just how rooted and grounded in your faith you truly are. Is it based upon biblical truth or something hollow that needs to be filled with Christ?
