This week I was not running from God but I was running to Him. Getting away from the world gives us an opportunity to get closer to God. Yes, it was a time for family, but much more I needed the time to reflect on my time in God. However, God is everywhere and we need to be reminded, as I was this week, that He is wherever I go.
7 Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in [a]hell, behold, You are there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me. (Psalm 139:7-10 NKJV)
It is not like I forget this, I know that my Father is omnipresent and omnipotent. Thus, there is nowhere I go nor nothing He can’t do. It is I who is shortsighted and I who loose my connection with Him, for He is always there. Even in the times when I am not being my best He is there. Nothing I can do, nowhere I can go, that I get away from the Father. I belabor this because I have heard many times from others that they feel abandoned by God, or they can’t find His presence. We need to realize that it is us who stray away, not Him.
I do believe, however, that we need weeks like this one I have just had to rest and reflect. As I have written many times, ours is a world filled with its distractions. The enemy wants nothing more than to further distract us and to condemn us, making us feel worthless and alone. But that could not be further from the truth. Reread our scripture for today. Remind yourself that it is you who needs to run back to the Father.
