Slow Down And Let It In

2 He makes me to lie down in [a]green pastures;
He leads me beside the [b]still waters (Psalm 23:2 NKJV)

This week, being away, and having time to reflect, I do feel like God has lead me beside still waters and green pastures. I really needed this time away from the hustle and bustle of the work a day world. Responsibilities do not stop, but it is good to stop down for a while and let others take over, giving us time to rest and recuperation.

In these times when we can get away a bit and really listen for God’s still small voice we can truly sense God’s guidance. I will not say that I have ever really heard God’s voice in any way, but I have felt His guidance and direction in my life. It only takes me shutting down my overly active brain and simply slowing down for a bit to regain some level of balance.

The interesting thing when we do take time to slow down is all we find that we have lost touch with. Just the humor and joy in watching my wife feed chipmunks on the patio of the cabin we are in and then scolding them for fighting over the sunflower seeds. These are the things that God brings to us to allow joy to seep back into our bones.

Reflect on: Slowing down and letting the joy seep back in.
