4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, (Ephesians 1:4-5 NKJV)
You were known and loved before the world was formed. Does that make sense to you? It can be hard to grasp that so long ago, God knew you would be and loved you already. God does not wait for us to come into the world, do some good things, then decide if He is going to love us. No, He knew his love for you before you were known on this earth.
Our problem with this is our relationship with others and with time. With others there only comes love once we get to know another. Our love is conditional and God’s is not. Our relationship with time is also wrong. It is linear, where time is not with God. 100 years ago, now or 100 years from now are nothing to God. His relationship to time we cannot understand. You put those things together and we can see how God knew us before the earth was formed as that time and now are the same to Him, and His love has been constant. It is truly only us who can choose to love or not love God.
Reflect on: Your relationship with God and time. Learn to understand His all encompassing love for you and His desire for you to love Him through His son Christ.
