Outside Our Box of Reason

25 Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. (Matthew 14:25-26 NKJV)

In our scripture the disciples were fearing for their lives due to a storm, even though they had been with Jesus for some time they were unsure of rescue. Then, He does something that terrified them even more. He came to them walking on the water.

Jesus does not always come to us in our times of distress the way we might expect. We are praying for one outcome, but He leads us to something completely different. God does not operate within our, sometimes, very narrow constraints of what we think are viable options. No, often He works well outside of our simple boxes of reason and this can terrify us.

But God always has our best interest in mind, even if where He takes us is through a storm.

Reflect on: How God might have or is working in you life in ways that you do not fully comprehend.
